ARTIST STATEMENT

From the get-go, I've been a wanderer between worlds. Born into the rich tapestry of Guamanian and African American heritage, my life's soundtrack was a blend of my dad's congas and bongos and the soulful strums of ukuleles at family gatherings. This melody of cultures didn't just play in the background; it crafted the core of who I am, pushing me towards a journey of unity, identity, and self-expression through art.

My professional path has been a dance between two realms: the precise, pixel-perfect world of graphic and web design, and the raw, tactile realm of paint and canvas. This dance, this blend of digital clarity and the organic flow of paint, is where my art comes alive, marrying contemporary design with the stories etched in my DNA.

In my art, you'll see a world painted in black, white, and the glow of 24K gold leaf. Each color tells a part of my story: black for the depth and complexity of my experiences, white for renewal and clarity, and gold—a nod to my transformative time in Puebla, Mexico—for the divine touch that weaves through my identity. But it's not just about color; it's about texture and layers, each one a chapter in a larger narrative, inviting you to look closer, to see the story unfold with every new glance.

I see my art as a bridge, a place where we can meet and share the tales that make us human, connecting us across divides. It's an open invitation to explore not just my world, but also the shared threads of our collective journey, all set to the rhythm of a universal melody that binds us in unity, identity, and music.
